Hi! Here's a bit of homebrew content I've been working on to revamp the element system and make them a little more interesting.
Elements are no longer described by their form but by their effects. E.G. Metal becomes Cutting. These effects change what Catastrophic Damage Threshold damage does.
Base Elements:
Disrupting - Electricity, Sonics, Magnetism Anything that does not do physically destructive damage.
Corroding - Acid, Rust, Poison, Radiation. Elements that break down what is hit by them.
Immobilizing - Glue, Webs, Foam. These elements make movement difficult.
Exploding - Bombs, C4, Nitro. Stuff that explodes. Simple enough.
Impacting - Spikes, Cannonballs, Stone. Heavy, hard hitting blunt or piercing force.
Cutting - Swords, Saws, Cutting Lasers. Elements that slice things.

Cutting - Swords, Saws, Cutting Lasers. Elements that slice things.
Wearing elemental armour halves the damage of weapons with that element that are used against you.
The chain of element weaknesses is as follows:
Corroding < Cutting < Disrupting < Impacting < Immobilizing < Exploding < Corroding
The chemical proof anti-corrosion armour is easily sliced, segmented armour that defends against blades has gaps that disruptive elements can pass through, etc. etc.
Catastrophic Damage Effects:
Each element has a corresponding effect that dealing catastrophic with it applies. These effects remain until you have repaired the catastrophic damage.
Disrupting - General upgrades are disabled.
Corroding - Armour is cut by half, rounding down.
Immobilizing - Lose a leg.
Exploding - Your weapon's Power Level drops to 1. If it is at 1 it is disabled.
Impacting - Your weapon loses it's enhancements.
Cutting - Lose an arm.

These should make picking an element have more of an obvious effect and it makes determining the effects of catastrophic damage easier for the GM.
